The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
