The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
