۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They said, “We found our forefathers worshipping them.” 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 [And when he came.] they asked: "Hast thou done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said: What! do you then serve besides Allah what brings you not any benefit at all, nor does it harm you? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 We said, 'O fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham!' 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
