The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
