Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
