۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
