The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
