The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Koran. 2 Has created Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) as the soul of mankind. 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 25
