Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
