Animals (Al-An 'aam)
165 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr) before The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
ALL PRAISE BE to God who created the heavens and the earth, and ordained darkness and light. Yet the unbelievers make the others equal of their Lord. 1 He it is who has created you out of clay, and then has decreed a term [for you] - a term known [only] to him. And yet you doubt 2 He is Allah in the heavens and earth. He has knowledge of all that you hide and all that you reveal. He knows what you earn. 3 Not a sign of their Lord comes to them, but they turn away from it. 4 And now they reject the truth when it reaches them: but soon shall they learn the reality of what they used to mock at. 5 Why do they not consider how many generations living before them We have destroyed. We established those nations in the land with abilities far beyond those given to you. We sent down plenty of rain from the sky for them and made streams flow therein, but, then, We destroyed them for their sins and established other nations after them. 6 (O Messenger!) Had We sent down to you a book incribed on parchment, and had they even touched it with their own hands, the unbelievers would still have said: 'This is nothing but plain magic.' 7 They also say: 'Why has no angel been sent down to this Prophet?' Had We sent down an angel, the matter would surely have long been decided and no respite would have been granted them. 8 And had We made him an angel, We would still have made him a man, and We would have confounded for them that which they are confounding. 9 And indeed before your time (O Muhammad!) many a Messenger has been scoffed at; but those who mocked at them were encompassed by the Truth they had scoffed at. 10

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
