The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 And the magicians came to Firaun, and said, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 Then We inspired Moses, saying, "Throw down your staff." And it immediately swallowed up their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 So they were vanquished there, and they turned about, humbled. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 [and] exclaiming: "We have come to believe in the Sustainer of all the worlds, 121 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 122 Said Pharaoh, "You believed in him before I gave you permission. Indeed, this is a conspiracy which you conspired in the city to expel therefrom its people. But you are going to know. 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back: 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
