The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
