He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he feareth 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
