And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And of His signs are the ships that run on the sea like landmarks; 32 Had He wanted, He could have stopped the wind and let the ships remain motionless on the surface of the sea, in this there is evidence (of the Truth) for all those who are patient and grateful, 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 who eschew grave sins and shameful deeds, and whenever they are angry, forgive; 37 who have pledged their obedience to the Lord, who are steadfast in prayer, who conduct their affairs with consultation among themselves, who spend for the cause of God out of what We have given them, 38 who, when a wrong is done to them, seek its redress. 39 The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof, but whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. Verily, He likes not the Zalimun (oppressors, polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.). 40 And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 Blame attaches only to those who subject people to wrong and commit excesses on earth. A painful chastisement awaits them. 42 And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah. 43
