The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
