And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn) 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 and sailed away in a laden ship, wherein people cast lots. Because he lost, he was thrown into the water. 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah, 143 He would have remained in its belly till the day when all will be raised. 144 ۞ So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons. 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 Is it not that they say, from their own invention, 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 What, will you not remember? 155 Or have you clear evidence? 156 Then bring your book, if ye say sooth. 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 except for the sincere worshipers of Allah. 160 Therefore you and all what you worship. (The disbelievers and their deities.) 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 They say, 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 we would certainly be true servants of God." 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 But then, once it alights upon them, hapless will be the awakening of those who were warned [to no avail]! 177 And turn thou aside from them for a season. 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
