The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 then he mustered 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
