Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 That We created man in toil and trouble. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 or giving food on a day of hunger 14 Of a related orphan, 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 and being, withal, of those who have attained to faith, and who enjoin upon one another patience in adversity, and enjoin upon one another compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 and the Fire will close in on them. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
