Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 And the moon darkens 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
