The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
