Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 for an appointed time." 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
