The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
