Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
