The dwellers of the forest also rejected the messengers. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no wage for it; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Verily herein is a sign; but most of them are not believers. 190 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 191
