Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 What you are promised is certainly true: 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 And every morning asked forgiveness, 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
