The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
