۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
