The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
