۞ When the example of Mary's son is quoted before them, your people cry out at it, 57 and say: 'What, are our gods better, or is he?' They do not mention him to you except to dispute, truly, they are a contentious nation. 58 He is nothing but a slave on whom We bestowed favour, and We made him a pattern for the Children of Israel. 59 If We had so willed We could have made some of you into angels to become your successors on earth. 60 And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path. 61 And do not ever let the devil stop you; he is indeed your open enemy. 62 When Jesus came with clear signs, he said, "Now I have come to you with wisdom, in order to make clear to you some of the things about which you dispute: therefore fear God and obey me. 63 Lo! Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a right path. 64 Then the sects differed among themselves. Woe then unto those who do Wrong because of the torment of an afflictive Day. 65 Are they waiting for the Hour of Doom when the torment will suddenly strike them and they will not even realize from where it came? 66 Friends will turn into enemies on that day, except those who fear and follow the straight path. 67
