▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 From the guilty. 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Till death overtook us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
