The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
