The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
