Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth! 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 Therein is decreed every affair of wisdom 4 As a command from before Us. Verily We were to become senders: 5 As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 6 He is the Lord of heaven and earth and all that is between them, if only you would really believe, 7 There is no worship except for Him He gives life and causes death; your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers. 8 In fact, the unbelievers have doubts because of excessive involvement in worldly affairs. 9 Therefore keep waiting for the day when the heaven shall bring an evident smoke, 10 enveloping all mankind, [and causing the sinners to exclaim:] "Grievous is this suffering! 11 (People will then say): “Our Lord, remove this scourge from us; we shall believe.” 12 How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth) had already come unto them, 13 Yet they turned their backs on him and said: One taught (by others), a madman. 14 Verily We shall remove the torment for a while; but verily ye shall revert. 15 The Day when We shall seize them with a mighty seizing, that will be the Day on which We shall inflict upon you full retribution. 16 ۞ And before them We indeed tried the people of Firaun, and an Honourable Noble Messenger came to them. 17 Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you. 18 "And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest. 19 I have sought refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me [to death]. 20 If you do not believe in me, leave me alone." 21 Then he called upon his Lord: these are a people guilty. 22 (He was told): “Set out with My servants by night for you will certainly be pursued. 23 And leave the sea behind at rest, for lo! they are a drowned host. 24 How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left. 25 And the cornlands and the goodly sites 26 and other bounties which they enjoyed yet left behind! 27 Even so (it was), and We made it an inheritance for other folk; 28 And the heavens and the earth wept not for them, nor were they given a respite. 29

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
