Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 This is a revelation from the Compassionate, the Merciful. 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 Announcing happy news and warnings. And yet most of them are averse and do not listen, 4 And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working. 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 7 Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring. 8
