Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
