Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In the plain Arabic language. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 what avail will their past enjoyments be to them? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 for, neither does it suit their ends, nor is it in their power [to impart it to man]: 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 And warn your near relations, 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
