The Comet (Al-Taareq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
