Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is not the fact (that the Israelite scholars already knew about the Quran through their Book) sufficient evidence for the pagans of the truthfulness (of the Quran)? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, only the wayward follow them. 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
