Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
