He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 So you are after him! 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he feareth 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
