We gave Moses the Book and appointed his brother Aaron as his counsellor: 35 Then We said, "Go together to the people who have denied Our signs." We utterly destroyed them! 36 And the people of Nuh! when they belied the apostles We drowned them, and made them a sign unto mankind. And We have gotten ready unto the wrong-doers a torment afflictive. 37 also to Aad and Thamood and the nation of ErRass and many generations in between; 38 We gave guidance and drove each to destruction. 39 And indeed they have passed by the town [of Prophet Lout (Lot)] on which was rained the evil rain. Did they (disbelievers) not then see it (with their own eyes)? Nay! But they used not to expect for any resurrection. 40 And when they see thee, they take thee in mockery only: 'What, is this he whom God sent forth as a Messenger? 41 He would have surely turned us away from our gods if we had not adhered to them." They will know soon who is farther away from the path when they see the punishment! 42 Seest thou such a one as taketh for his god his own passion (or impulse)? Couldst thou be a disposer of affairs for him? 43 Do you think that most of them listen and understand? They are like cattle or even more, straying and confused. 44
