He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 You neglect. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 In honored books, 13 exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
