Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true). 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
