So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
