The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
