And make mention (O Muhammad) in the Scripture of Abraham. Lo! he was a saint, a prophet. 41 Remember, when he said to his father: "O my father, why do you worship that which can neither hear nor see nor even profit you the least? 42 O my father, to me has come such knowledge as never came to you. So follow me that I may show you the right path. 43 O My father! worship not the Satan; verily the Satan hath been unto the Compassionate a rebel. 44 Father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Compassionate Lord might strike you and you may end up as one of Satan's companions?" 45 He said, “What! You turn away from my Gods, O Ibrahim? If you do not desist, I will certainly stone you, and keep no relation with me for a long while.” 46 Abraham replied, "Peace be on you: I will pray to my Lord for your forgiveness, He has indeed been gracious to me, 47 I shall stay away from you and what you worship instead of God. I worship my Lord and hope that my prayers will not be ignored." 48 So when he turned away from them and those they worshipped, other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob. Each of them We made a Prophet, 49 and We bestowed on them Our mercy, and granted them a truly lofty renown. 50
