The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Taught the Quran. 2 He has created man: 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
