The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
