The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
