The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
